Buy Cars In India Is Good Thing
Since the last decade India has emerged as a major car market at the world stage and car makers in the world are eyeing India as an upcoming market. Gone are the days when the Fiat and the Ambassador were seen in the streets. Now the Indian car market is flooded with world class brands and top automobile manufacturers are giving increasing stress on providing better after sales service to its customers.
General Motors has been a forerunner in bringing world class cars to the Indian consumer. GM started off with the launch of Chevrolet U-VA in January 2007, followed by ‘Chevrolet Optra Platinum’ limited edition. In April, GM India came up with the much awaited Chevrolet Spark’ –a refurbished version of Daewoo’s ‘Matiz.’ Chevrolet Spark’s best in the class fuel efficiency and enhanced safety features are certain to lure the car lovers. The saga continued with the introduction of Optra Magnum and New Chevrolet Aveo Anniversary Edition in the subsequent months
The luxury segment also made a considerable inroad with launches like Audi’s Sports Coupe Audi TT, The 5 Series Sedan from BMW, Bentley’s Azure and Continental GTC and Mercedes Benz car.
Among other prominent players, there were Mahindra Renault Logan’ that hit the road in the mid 2007. Other worth-mentioning here are Maurti SX4, Grand Vitara, Ford Mondeo, Mitsubishi Eclipse car and Hyundai i10.
However, GM’s Chevrolet Captiva in the premium SUV segment and Tata’s 1 lakh car are the most anticipated ones which are going to be unveiled during the Auto Expo in January 2008.
D Segment cars those which are available at below Rs 5 lakhs. This segment was being predominantly ruled by the Tata and Maruti. But with the introduction of Chevrolet Spark and Aveo U-VA, General Motors India has thrown a tough competition to the Indian auto giants. Hyundai and Fiat are the other major players in this segment.
Segment C is constituted of the cars in the price band of Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs. Again, this segment has witnessed a phenomenal growth in options thanks General Motors’ Chevrolet SRV, New Aveo Anniversary edition. With the launch of Chevrolet Aveo and Optra Magnum Diesel which have a class defined performance, GM India is eying a 10% market share by 2010.Segment B, that ranges between Rs. 10 laks to Rs 15 lakhs, is primarily dominated by the diesel cars like Scoda Octavia, Toyota Supra and Toyota Corolla. Recently launched Chevrolet Optra Magnum and Optra Platinum have further helped heat up the competition.
Segment A ranging from Rs. 15 lakhs and above, however, is ruled by Daimler Chrysler, and with the launch of its M Class its has further strengthened its position in this segment. Amongst other players Honda CRV, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata are few of the worth mentioning names here.
